Nests

These works are a deepening of my exploration and understanding of finding home within myself, as well as exploring the plant imprints in a new way.

The nests grew initially from accumulated leftover bits of plant material in my studio, a wish to use the plant material for more abstract imagery and an ongoing interest in the notion of home. The actual ‘nest-making materials’ – imprinted onto the silk cloth brings new life from seemingly insignificant or discarded bits of plant material.

They contain both the very personal and intimate sphere of home and a suggestion of a threshold or entry point into another world, stage.

From homecoming comes transformation, and ultimately freedom.
